Emily Gravett is probably one of the most original author/illustrators in the last few years. The thing about it alone is the fact she has thought about the book as a whole product and not just a book for pretty pictures. From the start the end papers are used as part of the story which gives the reader a whole new level of experience. Secondly her colour tones are nice and simple, using pencil and collage to create something appealing to the eye. Finally her compositions are rhythmic and flow nicely to the next. A well rounded successful children's book.
